Trending on the Farm: Barons, Cannon Ballers rotation dominate while Zavala shines in Asheville

The Trending on the Farm series will highlight player trends from the top prospects in the White Sox system as well as any other notable performances across all active affiliates. Last week’s version is available here.

Noah Schultz – MLB Pipeline White Sox #1

Noah Schultz compiled another solid outing as he continues building up his innings.

Kyle Teel – MLB Pipeline White Sox #2

Kyle Teel had four hits in two games for the Knights before forcing the issue and earning a promotion to the major leagues to join the White Sox.

Hagen Smith – MLB Pipeline White Sox #3

Hagen Smith is making progress with his biomechanics work and is expected to appear back in game action by the end of June per Scott Merkin.

Colson Montgomery – MLB Pipeline White Sox #6

After getting hit by a pitch on the knee last week, Colson Montgomery returned to the Knights lineup and had a two homer game. Montgomery was also hit by a pitch in the wrist-area so he only appeared in two games last week. His x-rays following the game were negative.

Braden Montgomery – MLB Pipeline White Sox #4

After a few tough weeks, Braden Montgomery had a nice rebound over six games in video-less Asheville.

Grant Taylor – MLB Pipeline White Sox #7

Bullpen Grant Taylor continues mowing down the opposition. Appearing in three games last week, Taylor’s scoreless bullpen streak is now up to nine games (9.1 IP, 18 strikeouts).

Jairo Iriarte – MLB Pipeline White Sox #9

Jairo Iriarte returned to the Knights last week, appearing out of the bullpen. Iriarte made two appearances, the first of which was a clean inning in which he struck out two batters.

George Wolkow – MLB Pipeline White Sox #10

George Wolkow had a nice breakout week against Myrtle Beach, and in five games, Wolkow both walked and struck out twice.

Caleb Bonemer – MLB Pipeline White Sox #11

Caleb Bonemer had a slow offensive week for the Ballers against Myrtle Beach, but did walk nearly as much (six) as he struck out (seven) over five games.

Trending on the Farm: AAA (Charlotte)

Jacob Amaya

26-year-old Jacob Amaya hit .400/.538/.800 for an 1.338 OPS in four games last week. Amaya scored three runs, hit a double, one home run, four RBI, and walked more (two) than he struck out (one).

Dominic Fletcher

27-year-old Dominic Fletcher scored three runs and sent three of his four hits for extra bases (double, two home runs) and four RBI in three games last week for the Knights.

Brooks Baldwin

24-year-old Brooks Baldwin was on fire last week for the Knights. Baldwin hit .375/.464/.833 for a 1.297 OPS with six runs scored, had two doubles, three home runs, six RBI, and was 1-for-2 on stolen bases.

Zach DeLoach

26-year-old Zach DeLoach hit .400/.526/.667 for a 1.193 OPS over five games last week. DeLoach scored four runs, one double, one home run, three RBI, walked more (four) than he struck out (two), and was unsuccessful on his only stolen base attempt.

Andre Lipcius

27-year-old Andre Lipcius homered twice and drove in six in four games last week, posting a 1.193 OPS with four runs scored.

Mike Clevinger

34-year-old Mike Clevinger had a very strong outing for the Knights, allowing just one hit and one walk over five innings.

Tristan Gray

29-year-old Tristan Gray hit .364/.385/.636 for a 1.021 OPS with five runs scored, a double, triple, and three RBI in three games.

Dru Baker

25-year-old Dru Baker posted a .971 OPS in four games last week for the Knights, scoring five runs, hit two doubles, and had one RBI.

Bryan Ramos – MLB Pipeline White Sox #12

23-year-old Bryan Ramos had a .918 OPS over five games last week with three runs scored, three extra base hits (double, two home runs), and five RBI.

Corey Julks

29-year-old Corey Julks hit .300/.364/.550 for a .914 OPS last week against Lehigh Valley, scoring five runs, doubled twice, homered once, and had three RBI in five games.

Adisyn Coffey

26-year-old Adisyn Coffey made two scoreless appearances for the Knights last week, throwing three total innings allowing three hits, struck out three, and secured a save.

Penn Murfee

31-year-old Penn Murfee made one scoreless appearance last week, throwing two innings issuing just one walk while striking out one.

Trending on the Farm: AA (Birmingham)

Calvin Harris

23-year-old catcher Calvin Harris hit .400/.455/.400 for an .855 OPS in three games last week, scoring one run.

Tommy Vail

26-year-old Tommy Vail was outstanding against Rocket City last week.

Shane Murphy

Another day, another solid Shane Murphy outing. The 24-year-old southpaw continued his strong run of starts for the Barons since joining the rotation.

Zach Franklin

26-year-old Zach Franklin pitched quite well out of the Barons bullpen, throwing two and one third scoreless innings over two appearances. Franklin allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out five.

Jake Palisch

26-year-old Jake Palisch had a two start week, and over 12 total innings, Palisch allowed 13 hits, four runs (all unearned), one walk, and struck out three.

Riley Gowens

25-year-old Riley Gowens posted another solid effort against the Trash Pandas lineup.

Dalton Roach

29-year-old Dalton Roach made two scoreless appearances last week, pitching three total innings allowing two hits, one walk, and struck out six.

Andrew Dalquist

24-year-old Andrew Dalquist made two scoreless appearances last week, allowing two hits whilst striking out three.

Trending on the Farm: A+ (Winston-Salem)

Samuel Zavala

20-year-old Samuel Zavala was on fire last week, slashing .600/.652/.900 for a 1.552 OPS. Zavala scored five runs, had 12 total hits, including two home runs, six RBI, and went 2-for-3 on stolen bases over six games in Asheville.

Sam Antonacci – MLB Pipeline White Sox #27

22-year-old Sam Antonacci returned to the Dash lineup, hitting .417/.611/.833 with a 1.444 OPS over four games. Antonacci scored six runs, had two doubles, one home run, two RBI, walked more (six) than he struck out (three), and was a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen bases.

Jackson Appel

23-year-old catcher Jackson Appel had six hits en route to a 1.125 OPS over four games last week, scoring four runs and walking more (four) than he struck out (one).

Alec Makarewicz

24-year-old Alec Makarewicz had a 1.084 OPS in five games last week, scoring three runs, doubled, homered, and drove in four in five games.

Jeral Perez – MLB Pipeline White Sox #18

20-year-old Jeral Perez hit .409/.458/.591 for a 1.049 OPS over six games. Perez doubled four times and scored seven runs.

Phil Fox

22-year-old Phil Fox made two scoreless appearances out of the Dash bullpen last week, throwing two and two thirds innings allowing one hit while striking out four.

Vince Vannelle

27-year-old Vince Vannelle made two scoreless appearances last week, throwing four total innings allowing just one hit while striking out four.

Trending on the Farm: A (Kannapolis)

Lyle Miller-Green

24-year-old Lyle Miller-Green hit .412/.545/.647 for a 1.192 OPS over five games last week, scoring six runs, doubled once, homered, drove in three, walked as much (five) as he struck out, and was successful on his only stolen base attempt.

Mikey Kane

23-year-old Mikey Kane hit .438/.500/.500 for an even 1.000 OPS over four games last week. Kane also scored two runs, doubled once, and walked more (two) than he struck out (one).

Grant Umberger

23-year-old southpaw Grant Umberger with another outing demonstrating his stuff is no match for Carolina League hitters.

Seth Keener

23-year-old Seth Keener had a fantastic outing for the Cannon Ballers last week against Myrtle Beach.

Luis Reyes

19-year-old Luis Reyes had his best start as a member of the Kannapolis rotation last week, hurling seven shutout innings.

Jonathan Clark

25-year-old right-hander Jonathan Clark made two scoreless appearances last week, throwing three innings allowing two hits, two walks, six strikeouts, and secured one save.

Hale Sims

25-year-old righty Hale Sims threw three and one third innings in his lone (scoreless) appearance last week, allowing two hits, two walks, and struck out three.

Trending on the Farm: Rookie (ACL)

D’Angelo Tejada

19-year-old infielder D’Angelo Tejada hit .357/.471/.643 with a 1.114 OPS last week for the ACL White Sox. Tejada also scored three runs, hit two triples, had an RBI, and was 0-for-1 on stolen bases over five games.

Albertson Asigen

23-year-old outfielder Albertson Asigen hit .364/.467/.636 for a 1.103 OPS in four games including scoring five runs, hit a double, triple, had five RBI, and was 2-for-2 on stolen bases.

Grant Smith

24-year-old infielder Grant Smith hit .316/.409/.526 for a .935 OPS in five games last week, scoring five runs, doubled four times, and had four RBI.

Mason Dinesen

26-year-old infielder Mason Dinesen hit .476/.476/.619 with a 1.095 OPS in five games last week. Dinesen scored four runs, hit three doubles, had two RBI, and went 3-for-3 on stolen bases.

Fabian Ysalla

20-year-old right-hander Fabian Ysalla made one start last week, throwing five innings allowing five hits, one run (earned), two walks, and struck out five.

Jeremy González

20-year-old left-hander Jeremy González made two scoreless appearances for the ACL White Sox last week, throwing three and one third innings allowing just one hit, one walk, and struck out three.

Mathias LaCombe

22-year-old righty Mathias LaCombe made one scoreless start last week, throwing three innings walking one and struck out five.

Trending on the Farm: Rookie (DSL)

Frank Mieses

17-year-old outfielder Frank Mieses hit .417/.563/.750 for a 1.313 OPS with four runs scored, a double, home run, five RBI, more walks (four) than strikeouts (two), and went 1-for-2 on stolen bases in four games last week with the DSL White Sox.

Christian Gonzalez

18-year-old outfielder Christian Gonzalez scored six runs, had a double, two RBI, and walked five times (no strikeouts) in three games last week. Gonzalez was also successful on his lone stolen base attempt.

Yordani Soto

16-year-old infielder Yordani Soto hit .455/.538/.545 for a 1.083 OPS in four games last week, scoring one run, hit a double, had one RBI, walked more (two) than he struck out (one), and was a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen bases.

Hendry Alcala

18-year-old outfielder Hendry Alcala scored a run, tripled, had two RBI, and walked more (three) than he struck out (two) in three games last week.

Yobal Rodriguez

17-year-old right-hander Yobal Rodriguez made two scoreless appearances last week with the DSL White Sox (one start), throwing four perfect innings while striking out five.

Igor Escobar

16-year-old righty Igor Escobar made one scoreless appearance last week, throwing two and two thirds innings allowing just two hits.
