White Sox Player Development Staff mostly unaltered for 2022 season

As is an annual tradition, the White Sox used the off-season to tweak and announce their Player Development Staff for the 2022 Minor League season. Once again under the supervision of assistant general manager/player development Chris Getz, who is now entering his sixth season at the helm of White Sox minor league operations and development, most of the staff remains unchanged, with just a few new (and sometimes familiar) faces taking roles within the White Sox organization.

MANAGERS

Three of the four White Sox minor league managers return to their previously held posts. Wes Helms (AAA Charlotte), Justin Jirschele (AA Birmingham) and Guillermo Quiroz (A Kannapolis) reprise their roles as executive on-the-field decision makers for their respective teams. The Arizona Complex League (ACL) White Sox ship will be captained by Patrick Leyland. For him this means his managerial debut, after serving as the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers bench coach during the 2021 season.

NEW FACES

In addition to the returning names, the White Sox will also add several new (or familiar) faces to the organization.

JASMINE DUNSTON
Jasmine Dunston (31) was announced as the organization’s new director of minor league operations; a position previously held by 40-year White Sox organization staple and pioneer Grace Guerrero Zwit. Zwit retired following the 2021 season after having spent the last 14 years as senior director. Dunston, daughter of former Major League All-Star Shawon Dunston, was a scholarship softball player in college for Tennessee State, before receiving a masters degree in sports administration from Valparaiso, interning for All Pro Sports & Entertainment in Denver, working for the Las Vegas Raiders of the NFL and spending time as a certified law clerk at John F. Kennedy University.

Last season, Dunston joined the Cincinnati Reds as a Specialist in the Player Development department. She will now be in charge of Minor League Operations for the White Sox.

NICKY DELMONICO
The second new (yet familiar) face reporting for duty within the White Sox system, is former White Sox outfielder Nicky Delmonico. The 29-year old will make his coaching debut with Winston-Salem, where he will be taking the role of hitting coach. He replaces Mike Daniel, who was moved to Assistant Outfield/Baserunning Coordinator.

LORENZO BUNDY
Lastly, Lorenzo Bundy was brought in from the Mets organization, to manage the Winston-Salem Dash. The 62-year old brings a wealth of experience to the organization, having started his managerial career in 1990 with the Montreal Expos. Stops with the (then-Florida) Marlins, Colorado Rockies (under Jim Leyland), Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, the (now-Miami) Marlins and multiple teams in the Mexican League give Bundy an impressive resumé. He brings a PCL Manager of the Year Award (2012) with him to Winston-Salem as well.
