Trending on the Farm: Riley Gowens and William Bergolla guide Barons to playoff berth

Noah Schultz – MLB Pipeline White Sox #2

Noah Schultz experienced some knee discomfort and was placed back on the injured list.

Braden Montgomery – MLB Pipeline White Sox #1

Braden Montgomery had a slow week offensively for the Barons and left Saturday’s game early, but there is yet to be an update on his status as of this writing.

Caleb Bonemer – MLB Pipeline White Sox #4

Caleb Bonemer’s first full professional season came to a close this week, and it was nothing other than a grand success. Between Kannapolis and Winston-Salem, the 19-year-old hit .281/.401/.473 for an .874 OPS with 12 home runs, 64 RBI, a 151 wRC+, .192 ISO, 15.8 BB%, and a 21.2 K%.

Hagen Smith – MLB Pipeline White Sox #5

Hagen Smith had one of his frustrating outings where the strikeouts were flowing but so were the walks.

Tanner McDougal – MLB Pipeline White Sox #7

Tanner McDougal had an off-day in his latest turn in the rotation for the Barons and will look to get back on track in the final regular season series before the playoffs begin.

Christian Oppor – MLB Pipeline White Sox #8

Christian Oppor capped his stellar season off with a solid outing on Sunday. Between both Kannapolis and Winston-Salem, Oppor pitched 87.2 innings (22 starts) with 116 strikeouts, a 3.08 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP with a 11.91 K/9 and a 4.31 BB/9.

Sam Antonacci – MLB Pipeline White Sox #11

While the batting average may not have been what we typically see from Sam Antonacci, the 22-year-old still managed to get on base a bunch and walk three times to just one strikeout.

Trending on the Farm: AAA (Charlotte)

Caden Connor

25-year-old Caden Connor was fantastic in his “return” to Charlotte, slashing .500/.583/.650 for a 1.233 OPS in seven games last week. Connor scored five runs, homered once, had six RBI, and was caught stealing in his only attempt.

Corey Julks

29-year-old Corey Julks .429/.467/.607 for a 1.074 OPS in seven games. Julks also scored six runs, doubled twice, had one home run, three RBI, and was 1-for-2 on stolen bases.

Evan McKendry

27-year-old Evan McKendry compiled a very solid outing for the Knights against Jacksonville.

Tim Elko

26-year-old Tim Elko was sent back to Charlotte last week and greeted the Jumbo Shrimp pitching staff rudely, posting a 1.067 OPS in two games with three runs scored, three hits, a home run, and three RBI.

Zach Franklin

26-year-old right-hander Zach Franklin made one scoreless appearance last week, pitching two and one third innings allowing one hit and struck out one.

Ben Peoples

24-year-old righty Ben Peoples made two perfect appearances, pitching two and a third innings with two strikeouts.

Trending on the Farm: AA (Birmingham)

William Bergolla – MLB Pipeline White Sox #12

20-year-old William Bergolla was outstanding for the Barons in Chattanooga last week, batting .526/.545/.737 for a 1.282 OPS in five games. Bergolla scored three runs, had four doubles, nine RBI, both walked and struck out once while stealing one base.

DJ Gladney

24-year-old DJ Gladney hit .296/.296/.667 for a .963 OPS with five runs scored, a double, three home runs, and eight RBI.

Rikuu Nishida

24-year-old Rikuu Nishida did Rikuu Nishida things last week, hitting .368/.556/.368 for a .924 OPS with five runs scored, an RBI, seven walks (no strikeouts), and was 1-for-2 on stolen bases.

Lucas Gordon

23-year-old Lucas Gordon rejoined the Barons and made another strong impression in his most recent start.

Riley Gowens

It was a two start week for 25-year-old Riley Gowens and he was absolutely fantastic in both outings. In total, Gowens pitched 11 innings allowing seven hits, one run (earned), walked two, and struck out 15. Gowens’ other start last week can be viewed here.

Eric Adler

24-year-old right-hander Eric Adler made two scoreless appearances last week, throwing two innings issuing one walk and struck out three.

Adisyn Coffey

26-year-old Adisyn Coffey pitched great across three scoreless appearances for the Barons, throwing three total innings allowing one hit with four strikeouts.

Caleb Freeman

27-year-old right-hander Caleb Freeman made two scoreless appearances last week, pitching three and a third innings with two walks, four strikeouts, and one save.

Connor McCullough

25-year-old righty Connor McCullough made one start last week throwing four innings allowing two hits, one run (earned), and struck out three.

Jake Palisch

27-year-old left-hander Jake Palisch made one appearance for the Barons throwing three and two thirds innings allowing three hits, one run (earned), one walk, and struck out two.

Trending on the Farm: A+ (Winston-Salem)

Jackson Appel

24-year-old Jackson Appel hit .444/.643/.444 for a 1.087 OPS with three runs scored, one RBI, and five walks to one strikeout in four games last week. Appel was also promoted to Birmingham to help with their playoff run.

T.J. McCants

24-year-old T.J. McCants batted .333/.385/.583 with a .968 OPS in five games with the Dash last week. McCants scored three runs, had three doubles, three RBI, and was 3-for-4 on stolen bases.

Gage Ziehl – MLB Pipeline White Sox #15

22-year-old Gage Ziehl hurled a shutout in his final start of the season with the Dash.

Nick Altermatt

25-year-old righty Nick Altermatt made two scoreless appearances last week, throwing three innings allowing two hits and struck out four.

Jake Bockenstedt

25-year-old right-hander Jake Bockenstedt made two scoreless last week, throwing three and two thirds innings allowing one hit, one walk, and struck out three.

Jonathan Clark

25-year-old right-hander Jonathan Clark made one scoreless appearance with one walk and two punchouts.

Carson Jacobs

24-year-old righty Carson Jacobs pitched in two scoreless outings throwing three total innings allowing one hit, one walk, and struck out six. Jacobs was also promoted to Birmingham as they gear up for the playoffs.

Trending on the Farm: A (Kannapolis)

Arxy Hernández

22-year-old Arxy Hernández hit .278/.519/.444 for a .963 OPS with four runs scored, a home run, four RBI, nine walks to five strikeouts, and was 3-for-4 on stolen bases in six games.

Jordan Sprinkle

24-year-old Jordan Sprinkle hit .348/.467/.435 for a .902 OPS with seven runs scored, two doubles, three RBI, and went 6-for-7 on stolen bases. Sprinkle will also head to Birmingham for their playoff run.

Jake Curtis

23-year-old right-hander Jake Curtis was strong across two outings last week, including one start. In total, Curtis pitched nine innings allowing nine hits, one run (earned), and struck out nine.

Liam Paddack

22-year-old southpaw Liam Paddack made the most of his perfect outing in Augusta last week.

Hale Sims

26-year-old right-hander Hale Sims made two appearances last week, pitching four total innings allowing four hits, one run (earned), with seven strikeouts and one save.

Kevin Davis

26-year-old Kevin Davis made one scoreless appearance throwing three innings with two walks and seven punchouts.

Pierce George

22-year-old right-hander Pierce George made two appearances throwing four innings allowing two hits, one run (unearned), walked three, and struck out four.

Marco Barrios

19-year-old righty Marco Barrios pitched well out of the bullpen making two scoreless appearances throwing three and one third innings allowing one hit, one walk, struck out five, and notched one save..
