José Rodríguez

José Rodríguez started his week in Birmingham and appeared in two games, was then promoted to the White Sox, the next day he was optioned to Charlotte and played in the final two games of the Knights series. The shuffling around didn’t seem to bother Popeye much, as he went 3-5 in his AAA debut and had eight hits in 18 at-bats between levels.

Cristian Mena

Cristian Mena’s strong month of August saw him rewarded with a promotion to AAA Charlotte. The 20 year old made his first AAA start and pitched over some bumps in the road to provide some stability to the starting staff.

Matthew Thompson

Matthew Thompson had a tough first inning, issuing walks to three of the first four batters while eventually throwing 28 pitches in said inning, but recovered to throw a gem of a start. While his walk totals were high in August (18), he had his lowest monthly ERA (3.57), BAA (.177), and second lowest WHIP (1.41).

Colson Montgomery

It was a rare off-week for the top ranked White Sox prospect, only managing two hits in six games.

Bryan Ramos

The hits were there for Bryan Ramos last week, although only one went for extra bases. It was a nice rebound week after a tough stretch in the previous series.

Jonathan Cannon & Peyton Pallette

Jonathan Cannon’s two start week didn’t go as planned. After throwing five innings but allowing four runs and nine hits on Tuesday, Cannon came back on Sunday and only pitched three innings, allowed eight hits (two walks) and five runs.

Although Peyton Pallette walked as many as he struck out in his latest start, he still managed to keep Fayetteville off the board, lowering his season ERA to 4.06 in his first full season post-Tommy John surgery.

Norge Vera

Norge Vera made his longest start of the season, as he looks to salvage what he can out of a mostly lost season for the 23 year old right hander.

  1. Thanks for the article. I am rooting for these guys. I would think there would be a big shake-up in the rosters at these affiliates next year.
